Larry McMillin is a Dean Realty Co. leasing manager, having previously worked for Dean Realty Co. for seven years. Formerly a sales manager for the company, Larry was responsible for the leasing of portfolio properties both above and below ground. In his current role, Larry focuses primarily on leasing, reinventing and revitalizing Dean's Downtown Underground. Other duties include developing close working relationships with tenants, formulating new strategies and concepts for the underground and making recommendations for increasing the overall value and tenant experience. He additionally holds the responsibility for managing the growing SmartSTORAGE KC and Space on Demand KC programs.
Larry has considerable experience in subterranean real estate, having most recently served as senior vice president for Interstate Underground Warehouse, a 3.3 million square foot warehouse/distribution center. A privately owned complex, Larry ran the overall operation, which included freezer space, food and dry goods storage, a fulfillment operation and an underground self-storage facility.
As a senior marketing manager for the Resolution Trust Corporation, Larry participated in the sales of commercial portfolios and individual assets, including golf courses, office buildings and industrial parks primarily through the public auction process. In addition, he was auction coordinator for the national program that sold over $1 billion of non-performing loans to the investment community.
Larry is a University of Missouri graduate with a bachelor of science in economics and finance, as well as an MBA with emphasis in management theory. He holds both Kansas and Missouri broker licenses, and teaches real estate to students entering the field. Larry is a past president of Kansas City's Commercial Brokers Association, an organization of real estate professionals that includes independent brokers, title companies, attorneys and financial sources. He also was president of Kansas City's Refrigerated Warehouse and Distribution Association, representing larger warehouse owners.
Larry is a frequent speaker for and vice president of the Board of Directors of Gift of Life, an organization that educates and promotes the value of organ and tissue donations. In 2009, he was honored as the volunteer of the year. Business interests include a lakefront residential development in Elephant Butte, New Mexico, Missouri farming interests and remodeling activities. He is a Harley rider and fourth degree Knight of Columbus.
