Community Connections

Dean Realty Co. assists area activities and causes. We are proud to team with a generous group of local businesses who support the efforts of several outstanding organizations. We believe giving back to the community is never a requirement, but always an honor.

Project Warmth

Project Warmth photoProject Warmth - In the early 1980's, The KC Star and KCTV5 teamed up to sponsor the Project Warmth campaign, dedicated to making winter and summer months more livable for thousands of the community's needy residents. Since its inception, the campaign has collected 1,943 tons of clothing, blankets and non-perishable food--over 4,710 bags of coats and 2,050 blankets were distributed to 85 agencies in 2005. Cash donations were used for rental and utility assistance, with absolutely no administrative fees or salaries paid from monetary donations. Dean Realty Co. donates the warehouse space used to sort and distribute the tons of items collected at local malls in November each year. These donations help ensure families stay warm and fed through the harsh Kansas City winters.

Harvesters - Harvesters is Kansas City's only food bank, a clearinghouse for the collection and distribution of food and household products. Helping people in need since its inception in 1979, the organization is part of a network of more than 550 not-for-profit agencies serving a 13-county service area. Forty-three percent of the people served each year are children, more than 88,000.

For more information on the special ways Harvesters helps hungry and disadvantaged people in our community, visit their web site at www.harvesters.org.

Giving the Basics

Giving the Basics photoGiving the Basics - Giving the Basics fulfills their mission of providing "Human Dignity" in Kansas and Missouri through the collection and distribution of donated products. Items not covered by government assistance programs, such as soap, toothpaste and toilet paper, are stored, sorted and distributed from Dean's Downtown Underground warehouse space. These basic necessities are dispersed to local organizations who ensure they reach individuals and families in need.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army - Dean Realty Co. assists the Salvation Army directly and through the contribution of time and space for their affiliate programs. Since the Salvation Army's inception as homeless shelters in 1881, to its modern-day ARC (Adult Rehabilitation Center), the Salvation Army is dedicated to re-inventing lives. Proceeds from their thrift store and auto donation programs help fund opportunities to improve families and communities.

Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America photoWreaths Across America - Dean Realty Co. contributes to Wreath's Across America's efforts by donating warehouse space for the storage and distribution of nearly 30,000 live wreaths headed for military graves across the country. Veterans from all branches are honored during the holiday season as wreaths are laid at the grave sites of fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as veterans' cemeteries and other locations nationwide. With their mission to Remember, Honor & Teach about the service and sacrifices of our veterans, the Wreaths Across America organization and its number of volunteers has grown as thousands of wreaths are gathered and shipped on a designated day in December each year to locations all across the country.
